Poultry love…

FullSizeRenderFor the past several years Coco has had to scrap with the random cat in the neighborhood and my sister-in-law’s dog. And now she has to share her terrace with some free range chickens!

I wonder what she’s thinking?

On another note, I’ve been running around like a chicken these past few weeks myself. It all started with a sick friend, a hospital visit to emergency and now I’m at home with a head cold.

For the record, I don’t ever want to have to be a patient at the hospital here. It became pretty clear, very quickly, that unless you are dramatically clutching your chest or bleeding all over the floor, well, you just shouldn’t be at the ER! Period!

The attitude I got from the young receptionist was beyond comprehension. Yes, I am stammering out in bad Italian that my friend needs medical attention, that’s true, but does he have to be flapping like a fish on the floor before someone will listen to me?

Thankfully, little Miss Attitude was replaced by a kindly nurse or doctor, I’m not sure and I don’t care, and they took one look at my friend and ushered him in to take a closer look. They kept him there for three nights so obviously I did the right thing by bringing him in. I was so tempted to stick my tongue out at the receptionist on my way out after waiting over three hours to find out what was going on but she had obviously gone home to her mommy by then.

Anyway, all is fine with my friend. I’m just whiny and cranky now that have this stupid cold. Of course, it’s almost impossible for me not to get sick since I teach kids, take public transit and then find myself Moonlighting at the ER. I cancelled most of my lessons this week and now I’m bored out of my mind. Luckily Couchtuner has all the episodes of Breaking Bad so I can finally see what all the hype was about.

Oh, and my husband makes a great nurse too. He makes me fresh squeezed orange juice in the mornings and is pumping me full of all kinds of medicine that Mama has instructed him to give me. I feel so loved 🙂

Okay peeps, we are headed back up to Portofino this weekend for some more poultry lovin’
Stay tuned for more fun pics from our ever growing farm!
