I’ll be the first to admit that I totally suck at sports. I usually play defence and for some reason I was put on forward at soccer practice this week and lo and behold, I actually scored a goal…but get this. I scored it with MY HEAD! Woohooooo! At least it’s good for something, hahaha.
On another note, on the heels of my last post, I’ve been in a bit of a funk. Soccer goals and sunny summer weather aside, I have felt like my feet have been stuck in molasses. The B & B / Agriturismo in Portofino was a semi-success this past summer but we are still on a very small scale and my involvement has been non-existent since my sister-in-law took over full control.
This has been a very confusing time for me because it was supposed to be a partnership but somehow, something got lost in translation and I have no words to describe my bitter disappointment. I have not given up on it entirely but it has become apparent to me that I will need to create something separate from my in-laws once my husband and I have renovated our half of the property.
Teaching also won’t kick into high gear until mid-October and with no extra money coming in, I have had to put some of my bigger plans on hold. This blog is still going to have the planned overhaul as mentioned a few weeks ago but that molasses has gotten into everything and I just have to be patient that it will all come together in good time.
Behind the scenes, there are a few more things brewing that I am starting to get excited about and it is helping to lift my funky mood too. Namely, the Comicon/Cosplay in Lucca on Halloween. This will be my first year attending this festival which is apparently growing in numbers every year.
I have two costumes in the works and both of them will also be part of a bigger project that is in the works with my new business partner Michelle. We have created a company called Up! Up & Away Entertainment. Our goal is to bring children’s American style entertainment to Genoa. We will be combining our teaching, singing and crafting skills together to offer customized parties for kids featuring costumed characters and full themed parties.
So, as usual, I have my fingers in many pots and maybe with a bit of luck and hard work, something great will come of all of this. I still plan to write that book too but for now I have a deadline of October 31st for Comicon!
Michelle is a wiz at costume creations and I can’t wait to show you all the great photos and costumes we have been working on! Stay tuned for some pics from Lucca.
Check out my Disney Anna boots from the film Frozen… I have been working on these all day 🙂
