Do you need a nail clipper, stat? Nope, sorry, we’re on holiday. Do you want the best parking space right in front of our door? Go ahead, it’s all yours…but we’re closed for a month.
Ahhh, how I love the dog days of summer. Why are they called dog days anyway? Genoa is not a big tourist town, so unlike Rome and Florence, our streets are empty. Nada. Zip. Ghost town.
This is the best time to be here in some ways because you can stroll around and not get mowed over by an Italian while attempting to cross the road. If gelato and granita are on the menu then live it up and enjoy! Mandorla and pesca is the best granita flavour combo.
On the other hand, if you need an important document, a weird pipe to fix a broken toilet or brain surgery, well sorry pal, come back in September. Italians take their vacation time very seriously and I think that’s great…as long as I don’t lose my passport or need brain surgery life will hum along just fine.
By the way, Coco is doing just great. We love her new doctor and the medication is working magically. I know she is feeling better now because she tries to spit her pills out…my little stinker is back! 🙂 And…today is her 4th birthday! Happy Birthday Coco xox
Me, well, I’m still here waiting for my ticket to go. Long story, but lets just say that my brain surgery has been delayed 😉
