Ok, I know I should be studying right now but I have been sick with a head cold for a week and my head feels like it’s going to explode.
I really miss my blog! So, to reconnect, I will write a short post today and then I promise to go back to studying 🙂
My vacuum tube broke two weeks ago and I am still waiting for the replacement to arrive. I dropped in at the shop where I ordered it from and kindly asked if it was coming all the way from China 🙂 If you don’t have any patience…NEVER MOVE TO ITALY!
Coco also decided that she didn’t want to be left out and she got a fever earlier this week. I swear this cat is mimicking me. I feel for her, she is bored and wants to be back in Portofino where she has her very own personal window sill.
The good news is that the Canadian licensing people granted me an extension on my driver’s license 🙂 I took the Panda out for a short spin yesterday. I cannot believe I have not driven a car in over a month. It felt weird to be back behind the wheel.
In the meantime, I am not 100% ready to write the exam but I must! Friday morning I went to the Italian licensing offices to finally bring all my documents in and register. It took me weeks to collect all that was required and so I was quite proud to be able to get to this next step. The woman recognized me and went through my forms and upteen copies. Then what followed was almost comical.
According to the clerk, the Rome office implemented a new computer system. One that apparently doesn’t seem to work properly, or so it seems. After a few shoulder shrugs and “porca misera’s” (translation: miserable pig), I was handed a telephone number and asked to call back Monday. Seems that the system would have none of it and the clerk just gave up altogether. I had to laugh, because I had finally made it this far, so what was another week or two…or three?
I am already imagining some voicemail hell at the other end of this telephone number. But, I have been living here long enough now to just take this stuff in stride. In the meantime it buys me some time to continue studying, right? See there is always a silver lining 🙂
