Well yesterday gave us great weather and great new memories for the olive season.

We are getting some power surges today so this will be a short post.

We press the olives tomorrow so stay tuned for the final results!

  1. I’ve been thinking of making olives, but I haven’t a press. Lots of olives around, just need to soak them for days. Do you have any tips? I’ve never done it. 🙂

Leah, how many gallons of olive oil will you get from this bin? It looks like very hard work; congratulations on yet another successful harvest!

    • Hi Lee-Anne,
We go to the mill tonight to find out and I will post the results. In 2012, we picked 180 kg of olives and got 43 litres of oil.
In 2008, we picked 425 kilos and got 83 litres. This lot, if I can estimate, will weigh about 230 kilos…so lets see how accurate my guess is!
