Flowers? What flowers?

Oh! Those flowers…I found them in an abandoned field. Honest!

The flower thief strikes again. It saddens me that every time I go upstairs to our old house, the more overgrown and abandoned it looks. I just want to go crazy with my clippers and make it nice again. I did in fact give the rose bushes a trim because I plan on reaping the benefits of my efforts by stealing the flowers as soon as they bloom.

I’ve emptied so many dusty boxes these past few days that I now have a terrible cough from all the dust. I’m also quite popular with the local mosquitos too. Have a look…

I’m a friggin’ mess and I’ve only been here five days. I can’t wait for my friends to arrive so I will have someone to go to the beach and drink loads of cold beer with.

Coco is adjusting to her new surroundings again, and if I didn’t know before, I sure know now that she is capable of flying! She was resting on a rather high window sill, which also happens to be on the ground level at the back of the house, when my sister-in-law’s dog appeared at the screen. She literally flew four feet in the air and shot out of the room at breakneck speed. Poor baby, she loves to sit up there on lizard watch, but I don’t think she was expecting a dumb dog, for that matter neither was I.

It’s Monday now and the dog and family are gone. Coco is sound asleep on the couch and I can feel my blood pressure dropping back down to normal levels. Actually, we got a lot done this weekend which is why I am happy they are gone, they make me work too hard and I’m on vacation, heehee.

The bees have been upgraded too, from low-rental, subsidized housing, to luxury single family dwellings. I’m happy about this because the boxes are so much prettier than the temporary ones that looked like something you would file papers in. This of course is a work in progress and it seems to me that these bees are even more high-maintenance than Coco! With any luck, end of July will be the first chance to get some honey. The flowers are blooming everywhere and you can see how they have contributed to the explosion of blooms everywhere. I have never seen this many flowers up here in July before.

Of course, I can take absolutely no credit whatsoever for any of it. My sister-in-law is the ring leader here, and I must say, she is impressing the heck out of me with her courage and determination. She bugs the crap out of me on other issues, but we won’t go there, because it’s just me being cranky and petty anyway. Here is an impressive photo of her geared up in this sweltering heat.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I think there’s a cookie and iced-tea calling my name…
