Cold beer…mmmm

Ok, I lied, I am going to post something after two days at camp.

I’m hanging in there but wow, what a task, I don’t even get time to pee in the daytime! Italian kids are so high maintenance that they completely wipe out any Princess status I’ve earned, haha.

Both nights I have come home soaking wet from the summer heat, which has soared past 30C, and opened an ice-cold beer to soothe my soul. Then I have a cold shower and put muscle cream on whatever aches. My hat goes off to any teacher who can handle teaching classes of ten or more kids all day long for an entire year! My colleagues and I are already counting down our ten days of camp.

One thing for sure, is that it pays to spend the extra hour (unpaid of course) at night to be prepared for the next day because once those ankle biters arrive you will get no peace or be able to keep a thought long enough in your head before it is interrupted twenty times by requests for toilet breaks etc. by the way, what is it with toilet breaks anyway? An escape, for sure. And honestly, why fight it, just let them go…when they see they missed something fun or interesting too bad for them!

I think for me, the early mornings are what’s killing me. I have to be out of the house by 6:30 a.m. to catch my train and I am barely a morning person as it is (on the way home they closed the doors on me and I was jammed in between the iron jaws, hanging half out of the train, not a good way to end an exhausting day, never a dull day goes by in Leahville!). Other than that, I am actually having some fun. I love crafts and games so this is right up my alley, but the screaming decibels of the kids, when they get excited, is taking it’s toll on my already deaf, sensitive eardrums 😦

I got lucky too because my kids are the youngest of the forty we have, so they are relatively easier to handle and sweet sweet, sweet. (I might regret writing this…) We are doing a play, Princess and the pea, aren’t these craft swords adorable? They are great at the crafts, but lets see if they can remember their lines.

It’s day 3, I’m back on the train now and just realized that I forgot to refill the fridge with more beer, crap! I really need to train Coco to answer the phone and open the fridge door, heehee.

Happy Wednesday!

    Good luck, keep at it.

I like a cool beer, but any day is fine, even cold ones. Mrs Sensible is a teacher and is just to start her summer holidays woo hoo.
