I’m too sexy for my grass

We’ve had so much rain that the grass comes up to our armpits! (I know what my family are thinking right now…what the heck is she doing laying in all that grass with her allergies!) I don’t expect that I will see much of my husband in the next week as he chops his way through the fields of daisies, poppies, and green and gold blades. It’s a shame that he will leave only a few days after it is all finished. I think every vacation he sets a goal to get it all done before he leaves again and perhaps that is satisfying enough for him.

Truthfully, I only wander up the hill when it is either olive season or to bring him a coffee or beer depending on the fluctuating temperatures these days. You are able to view the sea at the top of the last terrace on three sides of the property which is also a nice panorama photo op for when friends and family come to visit too šŸ™‚ I remember last June I took my cousin up there and the grass reached our knees!

We still have fires at night even though yesterday I fell asleep outside in the blazing sun. Luckily, I woke up before I was lobstersized. This morning I woke up at 5:30 in the morning to the sound of crashing shutters and high winds. I had to run outside in my pj’s and corral all the deck chairs and then close all the window shutters tight. Another large branch from an old olive tree broke off, which just adds to the long list of work to get done. If the trees were properly pruned over the past thirty years this would not have been an issue. All the while, as I slammed shutters and switched on various lights, my husband sawed logs in bed and didn’t have a clue about the wind storm or my frantic attempt to save some stupid plastic chairs. I swear, sometimes I feel like a character in a Disney animated film…although, which one, I’m not quite sure. Perhaps Snow White?

Coco has been spoilt with toasty fires every night except last night. We didn’t bother and boy did she have something to say about that! She stared at the wood stove then looked over at me and let out a meow in protest. Now, today is a bit chilly in the house so we lit the fire and look at the little Princess on the couch! Snug as a bug in a rug =^.^=
