Do you wanna lift?

Ride with me… (Click ride for the video on youtube).

If you have ever asked yourself “why does Leah have so many dents in her Panda?” Or, “what’s it really like to drive in Italy?” Or…”is this really a two-way street?” Well, watch this four minute video to get a true Ligurian experience (for once, I was the passenger and had my camera handy).

This is from the bottom of our road up to our house in Portofino, on the mountain. Those who like to hike will recognize the San Sebastiano Church half way up. Portofino is a natural protected park with trails connecting between San Fruttuoso Abbey, Ruta, Camogli, etc. And, between the curve at the church and a stone wall I must have smashed the car doors at least three or four times! But not when I first started driving up this road, but only when I find myself not paying attention or I’m in a hurry or I may have had a bit too much wine with lunch (Cyndy, remember that day we kidnapped Rosie, the American tourist? I think she was praying the whole way down the hill that I didn’t do a ‘Grace Kelly’)

And yes, this is a two-way road, as you will observe when we had to reverse to let someone past! And, you will also see that we had to go up a hill and reverse to turn the car around to get to our gate…

Enjoy!

    Hi Leah
I am a fellow Canadian, in Hamilton Ontario. I’ve been to Italy quite a bit in the last five years or so, my heart knows it’s home, and perhaps some day I’ll live there. It’s what I would like. My name is Allison, and share a house with an Italian here, and know very well what you put in your blog.
I am new to your blog, and you are hilarious! Your impressions and descriptions of Italy, Italians and most of all, Italian mothers is priceless and you have me in tears (of laughter), most of the time.
I just watched your long narrow road video, and that just makes me sigh. It’s beautiful. Not to mention the wine, the needles, omg the needles and the magic medicine cabinet.
Keep up the great work! I live through your blogs till I get back there. We go to Liguria, Loano, but visit Genova many times as there.
Take care of you, keep blogging,
    Allison

    • Hi Allison!
Thanks for reading my blog 🙂 I’m so happy you are enjoying it and that I can get a few giggles out of you too!
I’m really boring in person but if/when you come back to Liguria drop me a note and we can meet for a coffee at Babybar in Foce…the barman is hot 😉 heehee

Thank God there is a sort of guard rail. I would need a lot of wine to be a passenger and white knuckles to drive it!
