Have y’all got the time?

I know, I should be studying or reading a book on the beach but instead I am here in the comfort of Mama’s air-conditioned apartment blogging. What can I say? After ten years floating around the Caribbean, the beach is still a great place to be but not a priority for me anymore. I’ve had several friends tell me about their skin cancer and that shit scares the hell outta me!

So anyways, I also need to update you on hurricane Irene. Well, maybe you don’t care that much about Irene, and I understand, but I do. My husband flew out to Miami yesterday and now he’s on his way to the Bahamas to catch his ship which is heading towards South Carolina…hmmm, that just so happens to be where that biotch Irene is going!

I have no more nails left on my fingers but I know that as long as he gets on board today they will divert the ship if there is any danger. So what the heck am I so worried about? Okay, distraction is good…surf Internet and stay away from the weather network. Good idea!

Instead, I’m cleaning out my inbox and it’s sort of like cleaning out an old drawer. You stumble upon an old photo and decide to Facebook that friend, then you stumble on some old gum that got hot and is now stuck to the panels, yuck, you need back-up stat! See how easy it is to spend an entire afternoon of doing stuff without really doing anything?

I also have on my “to do list” more posts about the Italian Alps! But I’m taking a wee break because I can…it’s my blog, I can cry if I want to. (watch video and insert “blog” every time she sings “party” and that’s my song, diggit)

Okay, call me old-fashioned but I love this stuff from the 60’s!

But on a more serious note I did do one thing today that I would consider time well spent. I watched video entries for an expat youth scholarship program and cast my votes. And if y’all got the time I suggest that you do the same! If you think it’s tough for an adult to adjust to a new country then imagine how it must be for a young teenager. This is a great program to help inspire these kids and if you want to vote go to their Facebook page, click “Like” on their page and then click “vote” on the left panel. From there you watch the videos and click “like” to cast your vote.

Have fun! I know I am : )

It looks like the hurricane is moving a little further East and even though it has been around the Bahamas, it looks like maybe other than some rain or rougher seas, Charleston is going tobe spared and the Outer Banks of North Carolina at this time is the direct path.

So in the aftermath, is all well with your family? Enquiring minds need to know!

p.s. love the home page banner pic – subtle!

  3. As is well at the home front…hubby successfully dodged the hurricane too.
The banner pic changes regularly…although I’m glad someone noticed my subtle sense of humour with my current choice, haha.
