Maybe I shoulda called her Lola!

I wish my absence from blogging could be blamed on romantic nights with my husband however that would be a big fat lie. The truth is I have been huddled in bed (alone) with a fever since Saturday! I guess I should have doubled up on my vitamins the minute I took on teaching kids again because I somehow had forgotten how the little ones were walking germ zombies in my wake. My coughing got so bad that even my husband ran away to the spare room for some peace and quiet.

Last Thursday Auntie Elora dispelled my anxious mom-state by checking up on Coco when I decided to leave her alone for one night while I went to the countryside for some fresh air. Coco was all too happy when Elora opened the door (she had been alone precisely 2 hours!) and she proceeded to roll over for some belly rubs almost immediately. Seems that she is a bit of a kitty slut when I am not around and I wonder if maybe I should have named her Lola instead!

After sore ribs and being bed ridden all weekend I finally crawled back into the car to drive us back to the city, but I only made it as far as Mama’s. I know, I know, I guess I am just a big baby too because I just wanted some home cooked meals and a warm bath and going back to my cold apartment in the city just sounded well cold. So here we are still bed ridden but at least cozy. I couldn’t bear the thought of battling the supermarket with a fever and my husband has been sent to yet another course so he is in fact useless to help. Bless his heart, I’m sure he would help if he knew how but I have soon discovered that he is in fact NOT the nurturing type! Just my rotten luck!

So here we are at Mama’s and I am slowly recovering. But she has also shunned me a bit for fear of my germs spreading to her. In fact, just like Mama, the first thing she said to my husband was that he should stay clear of me so he won’t get sick! Geez, thanks a lot. I guess I will make my own cup of tea then. Oh, and by the way, it’s February for God’s sake, when are you going to take that creepy Befana and Christmas tree down? I may have a fever but I still know a Christmas tree when I see one!!!
