Isola Madre

The name of this island says it all. Madre means Mother and if I could set my life up so that my mother-in-law had her very own island just like this one I’d be singing until the cows came home. But there’s only one problem with this set up, at least for MY mother-in-law, and that is that  there are no supermarkets here! God forbid she got hungry and decided to roast one of these gorgeous peacocks!

Perhaps I should live here and she can live on Isola dei Pescatori and that way she will have all the fish she wants and I can gaze out my window and admire the exotic birds.

This particular peacock seemed to be quite upset with me. I was wearing a blue dress and perhaps he thought I was competition although his plume was far prettier than any dress I’ve ever owned!

Never the less, he started to walk towards me shaking his fanned out feathers just to make sure that I understood who’s boss.
