This is one of my favourite trees in the yard. It makes a heck of a mess all year but the magnolias are magical looking when they bloom.
My husband arrived safely Saturday and I’ve reluctantly released him to a night out with the boys. He is only here for a month and if I had my way I would keep him locked up at home with me. We finally got up to the country today but not without some effort on my part to tear him away from Mama.
She has been fussing and fretting since he got home and in this heat and humidity I needed a quick escape. The doctor came to the house last night to check up on her and told her she needed to lose 20 kilos. As soon as he left she ate 14 Euros worth of gelato! If I ate that much in one sitting I would be sick! Obviously she is a compulsive eater and as always she also ate all the banana bread I made for my husband too.
Ahhh, never a dull moment in our household, I had to laugh at the irony when my sister-in-law was telling me how hard she is finding things with her boyfriend’s family because they are ‘very Italian’. Apparently the entire family has to do ‘everything together’. Needless to say she got very little sympathy from me I’m afraid. My only comment was that now she knows what it’s like to walk in my shoes. I couldn’t possibly imagine if my husband’s family were ‘a typical Italian family’ but living with Mama is enough of a challenge for my North American mentality to take on, thank you very much!
I made sure that my husband checked the house for bats before I let him go and now I am home alone once again…
