Bookworms & Expats Unite!

For the past nine years television has not been a very big part of my life. I am not current with the latest reality shows or superstars collecting their fifteen minutes of fame. I try to “catch up” once in a while when I am back in Canada only to be able to follow some of the conversations going on with family and friends. The longer I am away the more they are also speaking a foreign language to me. For example, what the heck is Jersey Shores?

Anyways, I have always liked to read and with only 3 channels in the Caribbean and now only BBC to select on the Italian dial, I just don’t bother to switch the set on at all. But books are my passion. Only trouble is they are a bit hard to find over here without spending a small fortune.

I recently joined Amazon in the U.K. and am patiently waiting for the arrival of 3 new books. I really should buy myself a Kindle, but I’m waiting for them to become more affordable…besides, I’m still a bit old-fashioned about “paper” and I would worry that sand on the beach (and condensation from my frozen pina colada) wouldn’t mix very well with a $300.00 Kindle!

In the meantime I have been turned onto this great website by a new friend here in Italy.

This site is an International book exchange that works on a point system. If you have the time to enter the books you want to give away and don’t mind the occasional trip to the post office it could save you some money and you could get that hard to find book.

I encourage everyone to click on this  “BookMooch” logo and check it out!

Ohhh, thanks for that link. Would never have found it on my own. Blogs are just so fabby for stumbling on the little hidden gems on the net.

Bookmooch is brilliant and so is this site
I find the two complement each other well.
