Mama Mia! and clean windows

The longer I know my mother in law the less I understand her. How can this be possible? Today I decided to clean the balcony window which was absolutely filthy (seems that the new maid has already bailed on us), only to be told no because she prefers it a bit dirty. WHAT? It’s a gorgeous sunny day, after all that rain and I am excited to see sunshine through a clean window, so what’s the problem now? Seems that if the window is a bit dirty then it won’t be too bright in the sitting room.

I just can’t win! I mean after all, the sofa is covered (as per every Italian household requirement I suppose) so what exactly is that bright warm sunshine going to fade? The floor tiles? The TV screen? Mama Mia, I give up!
