I finally made it on board! I have just finished a 3 day cruise and have already had the pleasure of waking up at 6 am to go through US Immigration. In about 3 minutes the ship will start it’s mandatory life boat drill and then off we sail from Orlando to Freeport and Nassau, Bahamas.
Summer is definitely here and it is blissfully hot and sunny! I even met a few Canuks (Canadians) on the plane in search of summer. I almost feel like I am back in Italy already because I am once again surrounded by Italian Officers at the dinner table. The Captain is all of 5′ tall and is as cute as Geppetto (you know, Pinocchio’s dad). He likes to wear baseball caps and is as casual as can be. He speaks Italian to me, which is quite charming, but my brain is a bit rusty from all that maple fudge and Canadian beer so it may take a few weeks to get back on track. I wonder if he realizes yet that I haven’t a clue what he is talking about or if he doesn’t care as long as I show up for every meal wearing a short skirt or cleavage bearing top!
We called mama today and although she said she was angry with me for not calling her, she assured me that Stelle is fine. She meows when she is hungry and sleeps on the terrace where it is cooler at night. I knew I picked the smartest cat in the shelter!
Well emergency announcements are being blasted through the PA system now, so I guess it’s time to do something useful like wash my hair. I have done enough boat drills in my lifetime that I assure you I can not only save my own ass but probably a few passengers lives too : ) (All kidding aside though, I am CPR and rescue trained and do take these drills quite seriously-my husband’s job depends on it)
