This is not one of my favourite things to do. You would think that with all the travelling I’ve done that I would be an expert at this by now, but instead it’s still a huge chore for me. Unfortunately, the anticipation of a vacation does nothing to abate this anxiety. (Here I am blogging instead of packing…see my tendency for avoidance?)
For months I have stock piled plastic bags to put my dirty shoes and liquids in and yet, I still toss and turn at the idea of forgetting something vitally important like the gold shoes that match that dress so perfectly!
My sister in law came to Canada for 10 days with nothing more than a carry-on! I was in awe. I could never do this. My problem is threefold. 1. The weather can change from 13C to 30C in a 24-hour period in Canada, 2. I am gone for 2 months, and 3. I will be in the Caribbean on a cruise ship and in Canada visiting family. Top this off with the need for comfortable shoes, cute sandals, sexy high heels and of course gym shoes (necessary to burn off all the maple fudge that I plan to eat), and well, my suitcase is already bursting at the seams.
My husband is the Staff Captain onboard, so remember all those bikini-clad women I mentioned before? Well, how could I possibly disappoint him by showing up on formal night with nothing less than a sexy dress and high heels? Actually, he looks quite strapping in his uniform, I must admit. He is very tall for an Italian and he has striking blue eyes. I actually caught a group of gay men checking him out once while he was wearing his white uniform and laughed thinking “he’s mine bitches, back off”. It’s hard enough to keep up with the women, and now I have to worry about the guys too? Oh Dio!
So, I guess I have procrastinated enough…has anybody got a scale? I think I need to weigh this bag!
